Tufnut Security Nuts have sloped sides, and are made of case hardened steel, which makes them impossible to grasp with hand tools. The tamperproof nuts are available in standard USS and Metric sizes.
Our patented fastening technique lets you fasten them with your regular tools, or you can use our new Tufnut Speedwrench. The Tufnut security nut can be installed as tightly as desired but is removeable for maintenance, and is REUSEABLE. You don't need to replace it each time you maintain a sign. Since we provide specialty security fasteners, our prices are pretty high compared to regular nuts & bolts. Our value to you is in what we can do for you out there on the road. We think if you try our stuff you'll find that it doesn't cost much to keep your problem signs where they belong, compared to the cost of having them missing. You can often cut the cost of securing your signs by using just one security nut per sign post, which prevents removing the reachable fastening. Our customers say . . .  Vandlgard Breakaway Nuts | Breakaway Nuts
Vandlgard breakaway nuts are used when the 1" square base of the Tufnut is too broad to fit the fastening surface. Vandal guard tamper proof nuts are available in zinc, aluminum, or steel, and can be installed with regular tools, including socket wrenches.
